Our stainless steel rainwater tanks are usually built to order, though we typically have smaller tanks in stock. Please allow 2-4 weeks for fabrication before arranging shipping or pickup.
No sales tax on rain harvesting supplies in Texas!
Metal cisterns will also qualify for rebates in some localities, and we are happy to help.
Metal Rain Tanks come standard with a 1 1/4" outlet fitting at the bottom. This will allow you to add a pump to your tank. Typically we install this at the front of the tank, but feel free to specify a different location.
Additional Rainwater Catchment Supplies
We also offer pumps and prefiltration supplies for purchase with a tank, as well as level indicators, and backup water float valves. Our prefiltration package includes a Leaf Eater, First Wash Flush, and screened flapper valve to keep mosquitoes out of your tank. Optional screened inlet filter basket ($25) installed in lid serves as a mosquito-resistant entry point from your downspout.
Pick up your rainwater tank in Houston - by appointment - or contact us for shipping quotes. All tanks over 500 gallons must be transported in the upright position. Tanks ship from our fabrication shop in zip code 77020, which is convenient to I-10. Crating fees apply for all tanks that ship common carrier. Tanks up to 7' tall can ship inside a truck, but taller tanks must go on an open trailer.
If you would like to pick up the tank in Houston, please make sure you have the right equipment. Your trailer must be large enough to accommodate both the tank and the lid. The tank must stand upright if it is larger than 500 gallons, so please verify that it will fit on your trailer, between the rails, with the lid lying flat. Ask a question now and save a headache later.
Tank bottoms and side walls are constructed of 20 gauge 304 stainless steel with mechanical joints, and are constructed for above-ground water storage at atmospheric pressure. Joints are sealed with NSF-61 potable water rated elastomer.
Tanks must be placed on a flat, level and solid pad such as crushed granite or concrete. A full 500 gallon tank is over two tons! Pea gravel is not recommended, due to settling and voids which can leave the bottom of the tank unsupported.
Lid Placement and Moving the Tank
Our tank lids are constructed of 22 gauge stainless steel, and attach to the tank cylinder with the stainless steel roofing screws we furnish. We do our best to eliminate hazards, but some edges can still be sharp! Please stay safe and wear gloves while handling your tank. The tank itself can be moved by tilting and rolling on the edge, but tanks are not designed to be put on their sides. This will damage the tank and void any warranty.
All tanks are leak-tested before leaving our facility. Mishandling and/or improper installation can result in seam leakage, which is not covered by warranty. Our tanks are guaranteed against seam leaks for five years; the stainless tank itself will endure for many decades.
